2020 Petit Verdot

Gold Medal, 2023 National WineAlign Awards of Canada

One could never accuse Petit Verdot of being resered, timid or shy. In fact, it is quite the opposite. This idiosyncratic grape is bold and brash and brimming with character. Which is why in the very ripe 2020 vintage we decided to let it go alone. Unaccompanied and unadorned, aged 18 months in older French Oak and bottled unfined and unfiltered. Allowing the grape and only the grape to be on display. Dark and brooding at first glance, delivering plum, violet, and spice on the nose. The palate is rich and fruit driven with great depth and concentration. Fine tannins balance out the bold fruity body of this wine and will give it a long life ahead. Enjoy over the next decade with rich braised or grilled meats.
